In addition to its aesthetic value, the Keyport Slide is meticulously designed and constructed to be:
• Functional – Keyport products are compatible with the vast majority of standard keys
• Organized – Keyport keys are labeled for ease of identification, and initial setup eliminates carrying keys which are no longer useful to the owner
• Safe – Keyport products have no sharp edges, and keys no longer have the potential to slice, cut, or stab the user while in pocket
• Accessible – Keys can be accessed without looking or searching through each individual key to find the right one and can be easily engaged with only one hand
• Durable – Keyport products are constructed with high-grade materials such as top of the line polycarbonate and stainless steel, making them resilient and lightweight
• Flexible – Keyport products can be used by a broad spectrum of consumers of all ages and abilities
• Recoverable – Keyport devices include a serial number which allows found devices to be reunited with their owners via Keyport Lost & Found
Your keys do not fit directly into the Keyport. Keyport has designed proprietary keys called Blades, which take the place of your current keys and fit securely in the Keyport. Keyport Blades have the same shank and bitting of a traditional key, but feature a universal head that is much smaller and lighter than that of a traditional key.
More - Blades can be easily inserted and removed from the Keyport, so moving Blades around to suit your lifestyle is very easy. Should you need to carry more than six Blades at a time, additional Blades or traditional keys can be carried on the optional quick-release lanyard.
Less - Having less than six keys is not a problem, although we recommend filling your Keyport in the interest of look and feel. In addition to keys, Keyport also offers inserts, such as a USB flash drive, mini-LED, and bottle opener, each of which can take the place of a key Blade and fit securely in the Keyport.
Yes. Blades are easily inserted into and removed from the Keyport Slide. For more information, please refer to our Step-By-Step Guide to inserting and removing Blades.
Keyport has developed a lost and found program to assist in the recover of lost Keyports. Every Keyport includes a unique serial number and Keyport's website address, along with the phrase "REWARD IF FOUND." If a Keyport is found and we are contacted, a Keyport representative will contact the owner and facilitate a safe return. As a thank you, Keyport will offer the finder a $20 discount on anything in the Keyport store. We also encourage the owner of the Keyport to provide a reward of their choosing.

KEYPORT SLIDE QUESTIONS
The Slide's dimensions are 2.875" x 1.210" x 0.580", making it only slightly larger than a box of Tic Tacs.
Together with a full set of Blades, the Keyport weighs approximately 2.1 ounces. Without the Blades, the Slide weighs .9 ounces. A significant portion of the weight of a key is in its head. Removing the metal head, Keyport installs its own significantly smaller and lighter plastic head. Multiplied by six keys, the resulting weight difference is more than the overall weight of the Keyport Slide.
No. Keyport Blades function the same way as traditional keys do. At the same time, the Slide does provide its user with the ability to add significant additional torque in turning a key, so please use good judgment in the appropriate application of force.
Keyport has designed colored identifiers on each Node allowing you to easily identify each key separately. In addition, the location of each Blade remains constant so it does not take long to memorize where each of your keys are positioned in the Keyport.
Per the user instructions accompanying your Slide:
1. Before removing the End Cap, slide the Blade in the outermost channel forward approximately halfway. Otherwise, the End Cap is locked into place (to avoid having it come off in your pocket).
2. Take off the End Cap by pressing either of the small rectangular cut-outs located on either side of it.
3. To remove a Blade, simply slide it completely out of the channel. To insert a Blade, depress the Node and guide the Blade into the selected channel.
4. To reattach the End Cap, slide the adjacent outermost Blade forward, and hook the End Cap to the opposite side latch. The press the End Cap on and retract the outermost Blade.
For directions with accompanying images, please view our Step-By-Step Guide.
Or watch our Keyport Slide Assembly Instructions Video.
While we discuss Blades above, it works the same way for inserts such as our USB flash drive, mini-light, and bottle opener.
Yes. Every Slide comes with an optional quick-release lanyard for attaching loose items such as alarm remotes. You can also purchase our new Spinner Cap which comes with a 1/4" split ring attached to a free-flowing spinner.
Please visit the Keyport Store for current pricing on all items.
Remove all the Blades & Inserts from your Keyport. Wash out the Keyport with warm running water, shake or blow out all excess water (use compressed air if available). Hold the Keyport so you can see down the channels into daylight. Sometimes debris gets wedged in the corners of the channels and stuck over time from humidity, etc. If you see any debris wedged in the ports, take a small flat tip screwdriver and scrape the corners of the ports out with the corner of the screwdriver tip. You may also use a small jeweler's file. Wipe each Blade & Insert with a damp towel before reinserting them into the Slide.
KEYS & KEYPORT BLADES QUESTIONS
• Bow – Head of the key which is left protruding from the lock so that torque can be applied by the user
• Blade or Shank – Portion of the key which slides into the keyway of the lock and distinguishes between different keys
• Teeth or Bitting – Part of the key that actually engages the tumblers to activate the lock.
• Key Blank – Key that has not been cut to a specific bitting
A Keyport Blade is a Keyport compatible key that features a one-size-fits-all head and seamlessly takes the place of a traditional key. It includes the following parts:
• Skull – Patent pending head of the Keyport Blade
• Blade or Shank – Portion of the key which slides into the keyway of the lock and distinguishes between different keys
• Teeth or Bitting - Part of the key that actually engages the tumblers to activate the lock. Bittings are often represented as a code that instructs how a key is to be cut by a locksmith.
• Blade Blank – Keyport Blade that has not been cut to a specific bitting
A Keyport Blade is a proprietary key that takes the place of your traditional key. Keyport Blades utilize the same shank and bitting of a traditional key, but the Keyport Blade features a universal head that is significantly smaller and lighter than that of a traditional key, allowing them to fit securely in a Keyport Slide.
Key categories are defined by key blank availability and the level of customization needed to convert a traditional key blank to a Keyport Blade blank. The categories are as follows:
Standard Inventory - Keyport maintains a standard inventory of approximately 600 of the most popular USA & Canadian Blades.
Special Order - Special Order Blades are those which fall outside of the standard inventory but which can be identified by a key blank number, special ordered on a one-to-one basis, and converted to Keyport Blades.
Custom Order - Custom Order Blades or "Custom Convert Blades" are those for which a corresponding key blank is unavailable or when the key requires special machinery to duplicate. In this case, the customer must send in a copy of the original key, which Keyport will convert to a Keyport Blade. Custom Blades include restricted or high-security keys, certain chipped auto keys, and extremely rare keys.
High-Security or Restricted - Restricted keys are one type of Custom Order Blade. They are often protected by patent, which prohibits other manufacturers from making unauthorized productions of a key blank. In many jurisdictions, customers must provide proof of ID before a locksmith will duplicate a key using a restricted blank. These days, many high-security blanks have special laid-in features, such as magnets, different types of metal, or even small computer chips that prevent duplication.
Chipped - Another type of Custom Order Blade, chipped auto keys have a transponder chip embedded in the head of the key. In many cases, Keyport will need a copy of the chipped key to be custom converted to fit the Slide. Chipped keys require two channels in the Keyport - one for the Blade and one for the chip insert.
Chipped On-Board Programmable (OBP) - Certain vehicles which use chipped keys have transponder chips that can be on-board programmed by the customer. In these cases, Keyport is able to provide the customer with both a Blade and a chip without requiring a copy of the customer's auto key. The customer programs the chip with the provided programming instructions.
Keyport is compatible with most of the world's key blanks. Any key with a shank length of less than 2.0", thickness of less than 0.125", and a height of less than 0.46", can be converted to a Keyport Blade including high-security keys such as Schlage Primus, Assa, Mul-T-Lock, Medeco, Abloy, etc.
Keyport is also compatible with the majority of transponder-chipped auto keys. Find out if your auto key is chipped with our Auto Key Checker.
If your auto is not listed in the database, chances are it is not chipped and Keyport compatible. If you have a question pertaining to a specific vehicle, email email@example.com.
While a key may be compatible with the Keyport, there are rare cases where the lock itself will not allow access to a Blade extended from a Keyport (for example, the steering column shifter on some Chevy and GMC models with automatic transmissions). Keyport cannot guarantee a lock's accessibility. In these cases, the Blade may be removed from the Keyport and attached to the quick-release lanyard or spinner cap.
Your keys will be identified by the photos and information provided on your Key ID Form and we send you the corresponding Keyport Blades. Once you receive your Blades, please take them to a Certified Locksmith, along with your original keys, for duplication.
Please visit our Merchant Locator or the ALOA Locksmith Locator to find Blade Cutters/Auto Locksmiths in your area. Please call the locksmith, prior to visiting their location, to confirm the services they offer.
The Keyport Slide is compatible with the vast majority of the world's key blanks. Any key that has a shank thickness of less than .125", a height of less than .460" and is less than 2" in length can be converted to a Keyport Blade. Since Keyport removes the traditional key head, the thickness of the head is not a determining factor. If you are unsure your key is compatible you can submit it for review on our Key ID Form. Since you don't have an order number yet, name your key id images preorder-(yourlastname).jpg-1, preorder-(yourlastname).jpg-2 and submit them to our Secure Upload Facility. We will get back to you within 2 business days via email.
Keyport Blades replace the heads of traditional keys with its own proprietary heads that are both smaller and lighter. The Keyport Slide is currently compatible with the vast majority of U.S. key blanks. Any key that has a shank thickness of less than .125", a height of less than .460", and is less than 2" in length can be converted to a Keyport Blade. Since Keyport removes the traditional key head, the size of the head is not a determining factor unless it contains an embedded chip.
Keyport is compatible with the most popular brands of high-security keys including Medeco, Assa, Mul-T-Lock, Abloy, and Schlage Primus. High-security/restricted keys are often protected by patent, which prohibits other manufacturers from making unauthorized productions of the key blank. To get a high-security key converted to a Keyport Blade you must send us a copy. There is no extra charge for the conversion when you purchase a Keyport bundle. If you are not sure if your particular high-security key is compatible, email a picture to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Above image shows 3 examples of popular high-security keys (Medeco, Assa, Mul-T-Lock) converted to Keyport Blades. To see a Mul-T-Lock key deployed from a Keyport, click here.
A "Do Not Duplicate" key (or DND key, for short) is created as a passive deterrent to prevent a retail key cutting service from duplicating a key without authorization or without contacting the locksmith or manufacturer who originally cut the key. Though it is intended to prevent unauthorized key duplication, there is no direct legal implication in the U.S. for someone who copies a key that is stamped "Do Not Duplicate" (unless it is a government owned key). Keyport strongly suggests that you first ask for permission from the key's owner prior to duplicating a DND key.
Keyport does not actually duplicate your keys. Keyport provides specialized key blanks called Blades that take the place of traditional key blanks in the duplication process. Locksmiths duplicate keys, and it is their decision as to whether or not they require proof of permission before copying the keys.
Keyport can accommodate a wide variety of chipped auto and motorcycle keys. Chipped keys take up two ports in your Keyport, one for the Blade and one for the chip insert. You can check our Auto Key Checker for more information on which auto keys are compatible.
Assuming your chipped key is compatible, there are two possibilities:
1. On-Board Programming (OBP) — We will let you know if your particular vehicle includes OBP during the order process. If it does, you will be able to program the chip in your car key yourself and we can send you a Blade and chip insert without requiring a copy of your key, much as we would for any regular key.
2. Custom Conversion — If your vehicle does not have OBP capability but is still compatible, we will need you to send us a copy of your vehicle's key to custom convert, which means we'll remove the shank and the chip. Since we'll be altering the key, we prefer the valet key, which is the key that contains a chip but which doesn't have any buttons on its head. Unfortunately, we don't yet have the capability to integrate buttons into the Keyport Slide.
For an example of a valet key vs. key with buttons on the head, click the image below:
While we are able to integrate RFID transponder chips from auto keys, we do not currently offer integration of RFID door cards, tags, or fobs into the Slide. You can easily attach these items to the lanyard or spinner.
• Auto keys with integrated buttons and alarm remotes - You can easily clip these items to the detachable lanyard. Many of our customers just cut the key blade off their alarm remote and use the auto key in the Keyport Slide while attaching the remote itself to the lanyard. This mod is not compatible with all remotes. Check our Auto Key Checker for more detailed information.
• Proximity (PROX) keys - Proximity keys unlock your car's door automatically when you approach the car and typically start the car by pushbutton. Since they're an unusual kind of key, we are not able to integrate proximity keys to the Keyport.
• TBE keys - These keys are commonly found in newer Jaguar models and some Ford models. The tip of the TBE key is too thick to fit in the Keyport.
• FOBIK keys - These keys are commonly found in newer GM, Chrysler and Mercedes models.
• VATS keys - These keys are found in older GM models. The chip is located in the key blade, so the key is too thick to fit in the Keyport.
• Bit & Barrel keys - Most bit & barrel keys are too thick. If the key is under .125" diameter we can usually make it work.
We are working on integrating these types of keys into future versions of the Keyport. For the time being, we suggest that you hang them on the lanyard loop provided with the Keyport.
Please note that while a key may be compatible with the Keyport, there are very rare occasions when the lock itself will not permit access to a key that is extended from a Keyport (for example, the steering column shifter on some Chevy and GMC models with automatic transmissions). Keyport is not responsible for a lock's accessibility. In these cases, the Blade may be removed from the Keyport Slide.
Yes. Blades are easily inserted into and removed from the Slide. For more information, please refer to our Step-By-Step Guide.
Yes. Simply remove the end cap per the user instructions accompanying your Keyport, pull out the Blade, and replace the end cap. This process should take no more than a few seconds per Blade. You can also remove the Node and store it inside your end cap for safe keeping.
Yes. Keyport Blades are a superior alternative to traditional keys, even without a Keyport Slide!
Yes. Blades use the same shank and bitting as a traditional key blank and may be used to create a copy.

The only time Keyport needs a copy of your key is in the rare case where we cannot obtain a similar key blank. High-security or restricted keys are examples of such keys. Keyport may also need a copy of your key in the case of extremely rare keys, keys that our locksmiths cannot identify, or chipped auto keys for vehicles that do not accommodate OBP (On-Board Programming). If your vehicle is not OBP you may also opt to have the Blade and blank chip sent to you and have it programmed by an auto locksmith or dealer. Keyport will notify you promptly should such a situation arise.

Keyport Blades take the place of your existing keys and fit into the Slide. If you have not already purchased Keyport Blades, it is highly recommended that you purchase both Slide and Blades together.
Yes. Since Blades are easily inserted and removed, customers may purchase spare and/or new Blades as they wish at any time.
Our goal is to fulfill your order as soon as possible. In general, please expect approximately two weeks from the time we receive your Key ID Form photos. That said, timing depends primarily upon the types of Blades being ordered. Typically, Blades in our standard inventory are available within one business day, while Blades outside of our standard inventory may take up to ten business days as they have to be special ordered. High-security or restricted Blades also take some time as they require the customer to first mail us a key so that we can convert it. We do our best to keep customers regularly apprised of their order status which can be checked via your My Account page located in the upper left corner of the store.
Please click here to visit the Keyport Merchant Locator and find a recommended locksmith or key cutter in your area.
