What is Folds of Honor?
Folds of Honor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2007 by Lt Col Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Air Force Reserve. The organization’s mission is simple yet profound: to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children or America’s fallen and disabled service members, and more recently, to the families of first responders. Their vision is to ensure that no family is left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom.
Since its inception, Folds of Honor has awarded over 52,000 scholarships, totaling more than $240 million in all 50 states. These scholarships have opened doors for military families, providing educational opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. With a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, Folds of Honor is recognized for its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and impact.
